वास्तु the house
Buildings have charts too.
The plan, read from its centre. We mark the centre of the plan and lay the compass over it. Sixteen directions divide the house into sixteen zones.
Thirty-two entrances. The rim is cut into thirty-two padas, eight to a side, from N1 at the north-west round to W8. Every main door falls in one of them, and nine of the thirty-two are highly favourable.
Use the centre wisely. People say the centre of a house should be kept open. We say it is the most productive part of your property. Where a house works against its people, we prefer small remedies to knocking down walls.

An engineer first, then an astrologer.
He learned astrology from his grandfather, Pt. Harikesh Dutt Atray, and his father, Dr. Suresh Atray. He trained as an engineer and took an MBA before turning to Jyotish formally: an M.A and a Ph.D in astrology from Mewar University, and a diploma in Phalit Jyotish from Uttarakhand Open University. His Ph.D thesis was on the effect of Mangal dosha in marriage matching.
He has practised Jyotish and Vastu since 2007. Most of his week is birth charts and kundalī matching; the rest is muhūrta and houses.
He works by the same method his father uses, for clients who now mostly book over WhatsApp and sit online.

He came from Karnal; his doctoral work was on the date of marriage and women’s psychology. Many of the students he taught Jyotish still write to him.

After engineering and an MBA, he took an M.A and a Ph.D in astrology from Mewar University and a diploma in Phalit Jyotish from Uttarakhand Open University, and began reading charts and houses at his father’s desk.
